Kathleen Smith graduated from the University of Akron in 1989 with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine and Applied Arts and a minor in photography. Prior to and after graduation, she was working as a photographer's assistant for one of Cleveland's top commercial photographers, Martin Reuben. In 1991, Kathleen and her husband moved to Minnesota where she started her portrait career at The Photographer's Guild in St. Paul. Sessions included children, families, high school seniors, and business portraits. In 1994, she left the retail photography industry to go back to the commercial industry and opened her own business as a freelance producer and set stylist for clients that included Target, Lands' End, Cold Water Creek, Rivertown and Toyota, among others. Responsibilities included the coordinating of photographers, art directors and talent, managing large budgets, and ensuring the project completion within the given time frame. Set styling included building and styling of indoor and outdoor sets according to the art director's vision. Lots of travel and long work days were a standard in the industry but Kathleen loved every minute of it! | N | With the birth of her two children in 2000 and 2001, Kathleen left the commercial industry and has been working from home since. Her personal life includes maintaining the homefront and ensuring the positive and successful upbringing of her children. Her professional life continues to include photography; children, families, seniors, and most importantly weddings. She is also a contract wedding photographer for The Photographer's Guild. Kathleen Smith strives for excellence and continues to grow as a photographer by belonging to and attending MNPPA seminars and attending workshops offered by the wedding photography industry leaders such as Gary Fong, David Ziser, Doug Gordon and Susan Stripling. | | |
